General Questions

Below are some of are common questions about orders

Helpful Tees is a social fundraising platform where you can raise money and awareness for causes you care about through the sale of customized T-shirts and other apparel. You get your own customized page just for your cause where your supporters can make purchases and even extra donations.  We handle all of the details for you. At the end of your campaign, we ship the shirts and send the funds that were raised to you, your charity, or your organization.

Helpful Tees gives you the tools you need to build a successful fundraiser using sales of custom designed t-shirts and other apparel. Helpful Tees is 100% free to use, and if your campaign generates a profit we will pass those funds along to you at the end of your campaign. To read more about how the process works, see our "Design With Us" page here.

Helpful Tees wants everyone to benefit from our fundraising platform. That’s why it’s completely free to start a Helpful Tees fundraising campaign.  The cost to host and manage your campaign is built in to the price of the items you sell.  During the creative stage, you’ll design your shirt and select a selling price. We’ll calculate your profit per shirt by subtracting our print and operating costs from the total price per shirt. The more shirts you sell, the less it will cost us to print each shirt and the more money you’ll raise! Don't worry. We'll help you with pricing during the design process.

For Supporters

As soon as you make your purchase and/or donation, a confirmation email will be sent directly to the email address provided during the checkout process. If you haven’t received your confirmation email, be sure to check your spam folder, or confirm with your bank that the payment was processed.

We want everyone who makes a purchase through Helpful Tees to feel great about supporting an important cause. If there is a problem with your shirt purchase, please contact us so we can make things right.

Helpful Tees takes transparency very seriously. At the conclusion of each campaign, our accounting team makes sure the funds are issued to the correct beneficiary. If you still have questions about where the funds will be sent, you can reach out directly to the campaign organizer through the Helpful Tees campaign page, or contact us for assistance.

Shirts will not be printed until the campaign ends in order to make printing the most cost effective. (This ensures that each campaign raises the most money possible.) Because of this, you should expect to receive your shirt order 1-2 weeks after the end of the campaign.

We would be happy to adjust your order for you at any point while the campaign is still running. Just contact us to let us know how you’d like to change your order. However, once a Helpful Tees campaign ends, we’re no longer able to make adjustments.

In order to ensure speedy delivery to a campaign’s supporters, we rush the orders to our production facility as soon as a campaign ends. This means we are unable to accept more orders for a campaign after it is over.  However, you could contact the campaign organizer to see if they would be willing to re-launch the campaign. Helpful Tees campaign organizers often relaunch their campaigns if they feel there is enough interest to do so.

We don't share the direct contact information for our organizers, but we are happy to forward them a message and let them contact you directly. Drop us a message on our "Contact Us" page, and we'll be sure it makes it to the right person. Just be sure to include the name of the campaign in your message.

For Organizers

Anyone can run a Helpful Tees fundraising campaign! Our goal is to empower individuals, groups, businesses, and nonprofits to raise funds and awareness for any cause they care about!

Helpful Tees campaigns are completely free to run from beginning to end. There are no up-front costs associated with starting or running a Helpful Tees campaign, and you as the organizer will not be charged at any point throughout your campaign unless you make a shirt order for yourself.

There is no limit to your fundraising potential! It’s all about how many people you can get excited about supporting your cause.

The amount you raise for each shirt varies by campaign and the number of items sold. That’s because you decide which brand and type of shirt to sell, create the design, and set the price. All of those things impact the cost of producing the shirt. Here are strategies to maximize the amount of money you make for each item sold:

Limit the number of colors in your design. The more colors you use, the more expensive it is to print the shirts. We generally recommend no more than three colors to keep production costs down. If you need help creating a design, contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Limit the design to one location on the shirt. It’s more expensive to produce shirts that have designs on both the front and back.

Set a price that’s high enough to generate funds, but not so high that it discourages sales. If you follow the tips listed here, you should be able to sell t-shirts for $20-25 and have a successful fundraising campaign.

Sell lots of shirts! The more you sell, the more you make on each shirt.

While every campaign is different, let’s look at an estimate for a two-color design printed on a Gildan Ultra Cotton t-shirt in one location (e.g. the front or back) with a price of $25:

  • 25 shirts sold = approximately $400 raised ($16.00 per shirt)
  • 50 shirts sold = approximately $800 raised ($16.00 per shirt)
  • 75 shirts sold = approximately $1,275 raised ($17.00 per shirt)

We can work with you to create a campaign with optimal fundraising potential.  Please contact us we would love to help!

Helpful Tees can assist you with whatever cause is on your heart.  Whether you’re supporting a charity, special event, loved one, or personal project, Helpful Tees is a great way to raise funds and awareness. Just tell us where the money should be sent during the setup process, and we’ll take care of the rest!

We will confirm your payment information before we launch your campaign. Most of our organizers choose to use PayPal or to receive a check in the mail.

If you have selected to have the funds sent to yourself as the organizer in the form of a check, and have raised over $600, you’ll need to fill out a W-9 form. Since we’re t-shirt experts, not tax experts, we recommend reaching out to your attorney or tax advisor with specific questions.

Use your goal as a way to rally support for your campaign. Tell your supporters about your goal and ask them to help you reach it. If you haven’t reached your goal as your campaign is coming to a close, use it to motivate people to make a purchase before time runs out. We suggest making your goal ambitious, but realistic.

Social media and direct emails are usually the best ways to spread the word about your campaign. Consider using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any other platforms where your supporters can be found. The more places you share your campaign, the more potential supporters you'll reach. Plan on promoting your campaign several times a week and encourage your friends and family to share your page with their friends and followers. Get creative! If you’ve come up with a unique way to promote your campaign, we would love to hear from you. We love to see our organizers find cool ways to get the word out. (Plus, we can share your techniques with future organizers to help them be more successful!)

The more often you share your campaign, the better! People love to hear your story, so be sure to add some personal touches and details about your cause when you share your link. Share pictures and even videos. Tell your community why your cause is important to you, and ask for their support through emails, frequent engagement on your social media channels, and in person.

Don't worry. We're experts, and we're here to help you every step of the way. Check out our "Design With Us" page for more information and to begin the design process.

Helpful Tees has many products to ensure that you find an item that meets your needs and helps make your campaign a success. Choose a style, brand, and color combination that your community will love from our selection of short sleeve and long sleeve t-shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts, and more! From fundraising-friendly Gildan t-shirts to trendier Alternative offerings, our goal is to provide you with quality brands that you’ll be proud to wear.  If you’re not sure which product would work best for your Helpful Tees campaign, contact us and we’ll help you find the perfect fit!

Of course! We're here to help you create a design if you need us, but we can absolutely feature your own design instead. You will have the opportunity to upload your design while completing the design request form on our "Design With Us" page

We can print designs using elements created for you by our design team, or that use uploaded images that are your original work. We can’t print designs that include images or language that are restricted by copyright, trademarks, and the like. You can absolutely include your organization’s logo in your design. However, if the image is owned by another entity, such as a sports team, university, company, non-profit, etc., we will need approval in order to print it. If you have already been working with another group and have gotten the approval to use their logo, please contact us and let us know. If you have not received approval for the image, we can either remove that portion of the design, replace it with a similar image created by our design team, or work with you to attempt to obtain the approval we need to move forward.

Please note that all designs containing college or fraternity/sorority names or logos will need to be put on hold while approval is obtained.

We also reserve the right to block designs that are offensive, sexually explicit, or promote illegal activities. If we feel your design doesn't meet our requirements, we're happy to help you adjust it or create a new one that is appropriate to be sold on Helpful Tees.

It’s always best to make sure you have a high resolution image, as smaller images with lower resolution can result in a blurry final product. Beyond that, Helpful Tees offers a few options when it comes to printing photographs on shirts:

Full-Color Printing

Full-color printing, where we use eight colors to recreate the image or use our direct-to-garment machine to print directly on the shirt, maintains the photographic quality of your photo. But because of the involved printing process required, full-color printing will drive up the cost of producing your shirts, which may have a negative impact on your fundraising total.

One-Color Photograph

If you’re looking to print your photograph on a tight budget, a one color version of the image is the best option for you! This method ensures the photographic quality of your image will be maintained, but by keeping the number of colors in your design down, your fundraising total won’t take a big hit.

Artwork Redraw

Our expert artists can redraw your photograph to make it more suitable for screen printing, ensuring your print minimum stays low. This is a completely free service we offer to our organizers. It’s a great way to maintain the general look of your image, and get an awesome, original graphic for your design. You have the control of how many colors this image is redrawn with.

Generally speaking, Helpful Tees owns designs created by our design team, and we don’t allow those designs to be used on products not sold through Helpful Tees. However, you retain control of any images or designs you provide to us during the design process.

We would be happy to review your request and confirm whether we’re able to provide you with the artwork. Pleasecontact us with the details of your request.

We recommend running your campaign for about two weeks. It’s enough time for your cause to build momentum, while still maintaining a reasonable delivery date for your products. Of course, campaigns can run for shorter or longer periods. If your supporters need the shirts by a particular date, please allow for at least 1-2 weeks after your campaign closes for printing and delivery.

Absolutely! We can help you add up to four additional shirt styles and/or colors to your campaign page. We've found that providing a selection of products can often help you sell more items overall. We'll be happy to help you select additional products and add them to your campaign during the design process.

You have two options for shipping.

If you want the individual shirts shipped directly to your supporters, they can check out and pay for shipping through our website. We use Shopify for payments and shipping, and the system will automatically price the shipping for each order based on the shipping address of your supporter and the total weight of the package to be delivered.

The other option is to have all of the shirts shipped directly to the organizer. In this case, the organizer will be responsible for distributing the shirts. Local organizers are welcome to pick the shirts up from our physical location. If you want to use this option, you must let us know before beginning your campaign. We only recommend this if you are intending to hand out shirts at an event or a central location. If you need to ship the shirts, let us handle it for you. We're here to help!

Helpful Tees shirts can be shipped anywhere within the United States, to any US Territory, and to any Army Post Office (APO) or Fleet Post Office (FPO).

Once your Helpful Tees closes, it typically takes 1-2 weeks, excluding holidays, for your supporters to receive their shirts.

They will pay directly through the Helpful Tees website using their preferred payment method. We use Shopify's payment processing system, which is very secure and widely used.

Yes, we love talking to you about your causes.  Contact us if you need any help with your campaign.

Please contact us if you need to make a change to your shirt design after your campaign has already launched. Changing the design of your shirts at any point during your campaign will impact all shirts in your campaign, including shirts that have already been purchased.

To change the product available on your campaign page, pleasecontact usand let us know what product you’d like to use. Please keep in mind that if shirts have already been purchased from your campaign, changing the shirt style or color means your supporters will receive a different product than the one they were expecting. It may be better to add an additional shirt or color option rather than replacing one (if possible). Depending on what product you’d like to switch to, your fundraising potential per item could also change.

We will do our best to create a design with you that works on most shirt sizes, but if you choose to offer a very wide range of sizes, the design may look too small on larger sizes or may not fit on smaller shirts. If that’s the case, we will contact you, alert you to the issue, and work with you to make sure every shirt you sell looks great.

Generally speaking these are the options we’ll discuss with you:

  • We can usually resolve the issue quickly and easily by making a small adjustment to the size of your design. We’ll show you how that revised design will look on a typical shirt before your shirts are printed.
  • In cases where you’re offering a very wide range of sizes, like youth extra small to 4XL, we may suggest that you eliminate some of the very smallest and/or very biggest sizes.
  • If it’s vital that your design not be resized, and/or that you offer a wide range of sizes, we can have our printer create multiple sizes of your design. Bear in mind that this process impacts the cost of producing your shirts, so you’ll raise less for each sale. We generally advise against this option when possible.

Because we help you throughout the design process, it's very rare that these issues impact a campaign.
